Brickell vs Tiege

Brickell vs Tiege Hanley: Which is Better for Your Skin?

Men’s skincare is a trend that seems to be growing rapidly.

Men are increasingly accepting of the idea of taking care of their skin, and are starting to realize that it is not just a women’s thing.

Most major brands have responded by offering products specifically marketed to men, which are formulated for different skin types or specific areas like the face, hands and chest.

In fact, the global male grooming market is estimated to grow to about 81.2 billion USD (yes, that’s a B!).

Today, we’ll be comparing two of the market-leading skincare products, Brickell and Tiege Hanley, to see which one is the better option for you.

Brickell vs Tiege Hanley Summary

Summary: Brickell and Tiege Hanley are both well-received, high-quality skincare brands for men. Between the two, we would go with Tiege Hanley since it costs far less while offering you the same value, if not more, than Brickell. With its complete 3-level skin care system, Tiege is a good option regardless if you’re new to skincare or already been using skin care products for years.

That said, Brickell has one advantage in that its ingredients are natural and organic, whereas Tiege uses some synthetic raw materials (that are still safe and effective for promoting skin health and anti-aging). If you ask our personal opinion? Neither one is the best we’ve seen – there are definitely better and less complicated skin care products for men available on the market.

Overview of Both Brands

Brickell

Brickell is a U.S.-based company offering men specialized skin care and grooming products. It is one of the fastest-growing skincare companies thanks to their wide range of quality products for men, as well as strong marketing campaigns (in fact, it’s difficult not to come across Brickell when researching skin care brands online!).

Here’s a quick overview of what we like and what we don’t like about the brand, followed by a more detailed report.

Pros

  • Natural and mostly organic
  • Helps to address skin problems that are common in men
  • Worldwide shipping
  • Samples
  • Good option for people who’re experienced with skincare products
  • Subscribing gets you a 15% discount

Cons

  • Can get costly
  • Not the most beginner-friendly option out there – can get confusing choosing the right product for you

Now that we’ve looked at some of the essentials you need to know, let’s dig further into Brickell and see what the brand offers.

Brickell was founded in 2014 by Josh Meyer and Matt Bolduc. While neither of them was experienced in skincare, they wanted to develop a natural and safe product after they found out that the moisturizer they used at the time contained potentially harmful synthetic ingredients.

They went on to launch a range of Brickell products that you can now find on their website. These are specifically designed for men’s skin, which is typically thicker, more oily, and with larger pores and more hair follicles than women’s.

So, does Brickell really work for reducing wrinkles and fine lines? Is it healthy and safe for long-term use? How will it work for your skin type? These are just some of the questions we’ll be answering in more detail after we check Tiege Hanley.

Tiege Hanley

Tiege Hanley is a complete men’s skincare system founded by the famous YouTuber and entrepreneur Aaron Marino (a.k.a. Alpha M). Ever since its inception in 2016, Tiege has seen massive growth thanks to its no-nonsense approach to skincare, affordable pricing, high-quality products, and (in no small part) inspiring sales & marketing skills of Aaron.

Here’s a quick overview of what we liked and what we didn’t like about the brand;

Pros

  • 3-level skin care system
  • Wash, Scrub, AM, and PM in level 1 for beginners
  • Quality ingredients
  • Should work for all skin types, including oily skin
  • The morning wash should leave your skin feeling clean without making it too dry
  • Great reviews – one of the leading skincare brands on the market
  • By supporting the brand you’re supporting their mission to donate monthly to The Skin Cancer Foundation

Cons

  • Tiege’s level 3 system has 6 different products which is a bit of an overkill in our eyes
  • Similar results can be achieved with brands that have only 1 or 2 products
  • Small product sizes (although this could be a pro if you travel often)

As we mentioned, there are 3 levels to Tiege Hanely. If you’re new to skin care products or if you just want to try Tiege Hanley out, then the obvious best choice is to start with level 1, which includes Wash, Scrub, AM, and PM. These products are designed to work for different types of skin, including oily and acne-prone skin.

The AM and PM are moisturizers. It’s clever that they don’t use just one moisturizer, but a different one with a different formula for the morning and night. For example, the AM moisturizer has SPF 20. These moisturizers keep your skin elastic and nourished without oversaturating it or causing it to become oily.

The Scrub should be used only twice per week. This works as an exfoliator that helps your skin breathe by getting rid of old skin cells and inflammation-provoking bacteria. The Scrub also helps to unclog your pores which is beneficial if you have acne-prone skin.

Still, we think you can achieve similar or even better results with other skincare brands that aren’t as complicated. From a personal standpoint, I want my men’s skincare products to be straightforward and not to take too much of my time. This is why a 4-6 product system of Tiege Hanley is not something I would personally use long-term.

Ingredients – Which is Healthier & More Effective?

Brickell has a slight edge over Tiege Hanley here. The ingredients in Brickell are strictly natural and organic, whereas Tiege Hanly products do contain some raw materials that are synthetic. That said, both Tiege Hanley and Brickell are extremely safe for your skin as their ingredients are well-studied.

In terms of effectiveness, it’s a tie. If you prefer a more natural formula, then Brickell products are probably the better option. Brickell doesn’t show you the ingredient labels of their products on their website, though. So if you want a more transparent product, Tiege Hanley is the one to go for. With that being said, neither Brickell nor Tiege Hanley is our favorite skincare brand when it comes to ingredient effectiveness.

Tiege Hanley

There is a good mix of natural and raw material ingredients in Tiege Hanley products. Even though it’s not 100% organic, Tiege Hanley is rigorously tested for safety. The ingredients are all thoroughly studied in humans and aren’t known to cause any negative health effects. It’s clear Tiege’s makers have worked really hard to develop a formula that is not only highly effective for nourishing your skin, but also one that is healthy for daily use.

Brickell

As mentioned, Brickell doesn’t show the ingredient label of their products on their website, only a list of the ingredients in text. Here are the ingredients in Brickell Anti Aging Cream for Men which is one of their best-sellers;

Aloe Barbadensis* (Aloe) Leaf Juice, Butyrospermum Parkii* (Shea Butter), Simmondsia Chinensis* (Jojoba Oil), Aspalathus Linearis* (Rooibos) Extract, Dimethylaminoethanol (DMAE), Emulsifying Wax, Camellia Sinensis* (Green Tea), Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM), Sodium Hyaluronate (Hyaluronic Acid), Camellia Sinensis* (White Tea Leaf Extract), Oenothers Biennis (Evening Primrose Oil), Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Salix Alba* (White Willow Bark Extract), Rosa Canina (Rosehip Fruit Oil), Usnea spp. (Lichen) Extract.

The ingredients are all of natural origin and, for the most part, organic. This is where Brickell has a slight advantage over Tiege Hanley, even though not by much. In fact, some of these natural ingredients aren’t as studied as the ones used in Tiege Hanley, so you could argue Brickell may be somewhat less effective at improving skin elasticity and anti-aging. This is up for debate though, as both products look well-balanced and effective enough for you to notice concrete results after 3-4 weeks of consistent use.

Again, though, not the best we’ve seen on the market.

Cost & Value for Money

Tiege Hanley

Tiege Hanely’s pricing starts at $44 for a one-time purchase of their level-one kit. The level two package costs $55, with level three being the best value-for-money at $70. You can save some money if you decide to subscribe; in this case, the level-one option will cost you $33.

Regardless of if you subscribe or just purchase it once to try it out, Tiege Hanley is an affordable skincare system for men. You are also covered with a 100-day money-back guarantee and free shipping in the U.S. We can’t say anything negative about their pricing. If anything, for the quality that they are offering, they should probably be charging more!

Brickell

Brickell gives you an option to try a free sample kit, plus a $10 discount on your first order. But it’s far from cheap!

Their eye cream and anti-aging cream cost $40 each for a one-time purchase ($34 if you subscribe). Add to this Brickell Face Moisturizer ($35) and Face Wash ($25), it’s clear Brickell is a lot more expensive than Tiege if you want to use multiple products throughout the day.

Conclusion

Brickell vs Tiege Hanley: which is better? For us, Tiege is less complicated and (much) more affordable option, especially if you’re just getting into men’s skincare. Brickell is the better option for those who want no fuss, no-nonsense approach to skincare and want just one product (which would be their Anti Aging Cream). If you can’t be bothered using multiple skincare products throughout the day, Brickell is better.

In terms of ingredients, both are safe, healthy, and effective at doing what they’re supposed to do. You shouldn’t get any negative reactions from using them. If you have oily and acne-prone skin, Tiege and Brickell are unlikely to make it worse, if anything they should improve your skin condition!

That being said, we believe there are even better (and less complicated) options on the market when it comes to men’s skin creams. For our liking, neither of these makes it onto the very top of our favorite skin care products for men.
